Miyazaki Ayaka

AGE: 34
FACTION: Inactive
OCCUPATION: Royal Advisor Shinto Priestess
FACE CLAIM: Kim Taeyeon

Phone - Just like everyone else, Ayaka carries a mobile phone around with her. She dislikes the thought of being on call twenty-four hours a day, but she can't bring herself to abandon the ivory shaded device as she is afraid that something could happen while she isn't available.

Ofuda - Always being prepared for the worst, Aya by default makes sure to have a handful of them with her whenever she leaves her home.

NAME: Sailor Mars

Akuryo Taisan
Holding one of her ofuda between her index and middle fingers Ayaka closes her eyes and concentrates while chanting the names of the kuji - "Rin, Pyou, Tou, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Zai, Zen!" With the last syllable leaving her peachy lips she opens her eyes and the piece of paper straightens between her fingers. The charm is now capable of either immobilizing yōma or purifying people possessed by evil energy. She is capable to perform this attack even without turning into Sailor Mars.

Fire Soul
Performing a mudrā praying pose by folding her hands in front of her with only her index fingers and thumbs pointing upwards, Ayaka focuses the strength of Mars within her connected index fingers until a spark ignites. The spark quickly turns into a blazing sphere of fire that is then shot at a target in a straight line.

Burning Mandala
Focusing for a moment Ayaka then rotates one of her arms in a clockwise motion; doing she draws a large ring of flames into the air in front of her that quickly turns into eight equally large floating orbs consisting of fire. Bringing her hands together with her palms directed at her opponent the fireballs are launched at her target in rapid succession.

Mars Flame Sniper
Focusing her enegery within one of her palms Ayaka extends one arm causing a pair of fiery bow limbs to appear above and beneath her outstretched fingers, creating a stringless bow consisting of pure fire. At the same time a blazing arrow appears in front of her open palm, which she then launches at her target after moving her other arm in a motion similar to that of drawing a normal bow.

Mars Snake Fire
Calling upon the strength of Mars the ravenette shrouds her entire frame in Raging flames. Folding her hands in a praying manner, the blazing torrent engulfing her body will take on the shape of a snake's muzzle, before it is launched at a target. Remaining in contact with the flame allows Ayaka to freely manipulate its trajectory, while it at the same time renders her vulnerable to attacks as she has to remain in place and focus on the attack.

Mars Flame Barrage
Setting one of her hands ablaze the flames quickly take on the shape of a stringless longbow with Ayaka's hand being the weapon's center. Performing a motion similar to drawing a normal bow an oversized fiery arrow appears, completing the deadly weapon. Instead of directly aiming at the target Sailor Mars targets the sky itself, releasing the intangible projectile into the heavens. Upon reaching a certain height, the massive fire arrow will dissipate and cause a barrage of scorching fire arrows to shower an area with a diameter of 82 feet diameter with flames.

Psychic Powers
Ever since she can remember Ayaka has possessed what others would most likely refer to as a sixth sense, allowing her to feel nearby dark energies. Her abilities, however, aren't limited to this supernatural flair as she is further able to purify people possessed by darkness and even to banish evil spirits. Over the years her gift grew stronger and stronger, partially due to the training she received while living with her grandfather and partially due to her awakening and growth as Sailor Mars; eventually her powers grew strong enough for her to be capable of voluntarily catching glimpses of a person's future during fire readings, but also involuntarily in her dreams. The things she sees in her dreams, however, are chains of bizarre, distorted and obviously not always pleasant images that could be compared to nightmares. Often being assaulted by visions while being asleep Aya eventually turned into what is generally known as an insomniac.

Being born as the sole child of Miyazaki Tomoaki and his wife Megumi, Ayaka spent the first few years of her life within a wealthy and sheltered environment, receiving all the love an innocent child could possibly wish for. Her father, an aspiring politician, was barely at home due to his busy schedule, but her mother, a former miko, tried to compensate for that lack of a father figure as much as she could and thereby introduced her young daughter to shintō as well as the Ise Great Shrine her family had been tending to as priests and priestesses for generations. Spending time at the shrine with her mother Aya learnt that kami resided in the world around her and that she was capable of sensing their presence, especially those that were evil. Unfortunately her mother never got the chance to properly teach her daughter how to use these powers as she lost her life when the innocent child was only eight years old.

While Megumi's death seemed like an unfortunate traffic accident, the religious part of the family believed that it had been caused by something supernatural. Her father obviously dismissed this kind of theory as nonsense as he was only religious on paper and considered himself too well educated to believe such things. However, the young man was unable to take care of his offspring due to his career and tight schedule and therefore gave Ayaka to his late wife's father. The priest, who feared that whatever had taken the life of his daughter might come back for his granddaughter, devised a plan to get the coal haired child away from the shrine the girl loved so much. With her father considering Shintō just to be another sect, he immediately agreed to the plan of relocating his daughter to America so that she could study abroad, widen her horizon and let go of these stupid fairytales her mother had taught her.

Aya still mourned her mother when she learnt that her father was going to send her to some place called Infinity City; needless to say that she was shocked and flabbergasted to learn that she was not only taken away from everything she loved, but also forced to live in a country that she hardly knew anything about. Involuntarily moving to the United States along with her grandfather her life, which she might have described as a dream in the beginning, finally turned into a nightmare. Life in Infinity City was so different from Ise and the language barrier didn't make things any easier for her. While attending a private school, it actually was thanks to her grandfather that she eventually managed to adapt. Having been told about the child's gift before his daughter's tragic death, he not only taught her English, but also about shamanic rituals older than the Shintō practices Megumi had introduced her to.

This way Ayaka learnt how to perform fire readings and use ofuda in order to banish evil spirits. While attending a private school the art of tarot reading caught her interest, but it was only something she learnt as a pastime as her abilities for some reason refused to work with these kind of arts. It was during her middle school years that an encounter with a girl called Cynthia Lunette changed her life forever as she discovered the truth about the origin of her powers. Learning that she had once been Thalia, a princess born on the red planet that had taken on the duty of protecting the princess of the moon as Sailor Mars eons ago, Ayaka quickly accepted her fate and joined the battle against the forces of darkness. Over the years the bond connecting the girls that had been reunited by fate in order to protect the solar System grew stronger and stronger and all of them were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect those dear to them.

If it hadn't been for Cynthia and her Silver Crystal, all of them would have perished years ago. It was thanks to her pure heart, strength and wish that they were brought back into this world in order to see the future they had been fighting for. After all the battles Ayaka had actually been looking forward to a peaceful life and started working in a boutique as a shop assistant as she refused to either return to Japan or solely rely on her father's wealth and influence. But peace only lasted a decade. With the wedding of Cynthia and her beloved one, a crystal city appeared out of nowhere and tumult once again spread across the world with the eventual return of crimes. When her queen and friend decided to reveal their identities in order to appease the frightened population of earth, Aya was the first to oppose the idea, but in the end went along with it as she didn't wish to let her friends down and the ones she loved.

An eerie mass of gray clung to the heavens, completely covering the usually azure sky while the world below was drenched by a remorseless and sheer never-ending downpour. The clicking noise of small drops of liquid crashing against the closed window filled the otherwise silent room. Slender fingers rested against the cold, crystalline surface while murky orbs stared at the world beyond the protective walls of the palace. A mixture of disbelief and confusion dwelled within the ravenette's chest as Ayaka silently watched the sky's melancholy that ironically seemed to mirror her own. She simply failed to understand why her queen and friend had insisted that it was necessary for them to reveal their true identities to the world and thereby endanger not only themselves, but everyone that was dear to them.

Back in the day when they had been younger she might have supported such an idea as she had dreamed of spending time in the limelight, but times had changed; she had grown up and realized that this world wasn't as carefree as she had believed it to be in the past, even without the threat of yōmas. She had voiced her concerns, shared her opinion and made it clear that she was against such an act, but it had seemed as if her words had been unable to reach Cynthia, the woman nowadays known as Neo Queen Serenity. They had saved the solar system and its inhabitants numerous times and suddenly it had become necessary for them to reveal their identities and ruin any chance they might have had of leading a normal life in order to show the world that they weren't a threat to mankind? It was ridiculous.

No one could tell what kind of future these actions would summon upon them, not even her. Lately a veil of hazy fog had kept clouding her psychic visions and rendered them mostly useless. She couldn't possibly tell what the cause was and her pride obviously didn't allow her to openly talk about these issues before she was entirely sure that it wasn't just a mistake on her part or something she couldn't handle on her own. Not having the slightest idea of what was going on felt weird to her, yes even somewhat frightening, but she couldn't allow that to hinder her, could she? Slowly guiding her forehead towards the window's cool surface Aya then let the same rest against the transparent structure, closing her eyes and listening to the pouring rain, hoping that the course that had been taken by the queen wasn't going to bring forth calamity.

There was no way that she would abandon the others or stop believing in Cynthia, but there was just no way for her to shrug off this unpleasant sensation gnawing at her heart. She knew better than anyone that people feared what they couldn't possibly understand, but would revealing their identities be capable of reconciling this widespread unease? She doubted that it would be that easy and something deep within her told her it was wrong. Once again opening her hazel spheres when the echoing sound of approaching footsteps reached her ears, she finally broke away from the window and the gloomy sight of the gray world outside. She couldn't tell who was approaching her, but she was sure that it was one of her friends that wanted to talk to her about the dismay she had expressed before.

Taking a deep breath she turned towards the door, crossing her arms in front of her chest and leaning against the wall behind her, prepared to face whoever had come to seek her out. They at times were a troublesome bunch, but Ayaka loved them like sisters.
