A sigh slipped out of the ebony skinned girl's mouth as she gave yet another gaze at the bracelet communicator on her right wrist. It was 7:15pm already. Artemis said he would be here to accompany her fifteen minutes ago. Where was he? As much as Luna loved him - and she truly did, or else she wouldn't have remained by his side for so long - he could still retain some of his old goofy tendencies that she just couldn't stand. Like being late to every occassion, even the big and important ones, such as this. What could possibly be more important than the Queen's ball? The Mauan did not know. It was a big event, the biggest they've held in years, and it was open to the public, too! Her Majesty needed her there by her side, Luna knew it. And it wouldn't go by easily if she will be late. She will have to find some explanation as to why she, the punctual advisor who was always on time, was suddenly late like this. . .
Ah! Why couldn't he just grow up?! She couldn't help but thinking to herself. As a matter of fact, moments like these were the ones that prevented Luna from taking their relationship one step further. Wouldd he be late to their own wedding day, as well? And what happens when they have children? Will he forget to pick them up from kindergarten, only because he smelled something delicious along the way? She truly wanted to believe that Artemis was the man of her life, but moments like this made her doubt it. He would be kind and generous, she had no doubt about that, and he could even be funny at times. But Luna needded the man of her life to be more than that. She needed him to also be stable.
Luna figured it would be a good oportunity to give yet another glance at the mirror, to see if everything about her appearance was in tact. She had already done so a dozen times by now, but the advisor figured one more time couldn't possibly hurt. She was always somewhat more hesitant about her appearance in her human form - unlike her feline form, where she looked good at pretty much any given state, as a human there was just so much that could go wrong. Her form was covered by a strapless black gown, with a bell shaped skirt that gradually turned golden as it reached the floor beneath. On her hands she wore matching black gloves, that were elongated and reached beyond her elbows. Her feet were shod in a pair of high heeled shoes, black as well, with a golden bottom that matched the golden ombre of the skirt. Her mane of unruly black curls was now tame in a high up do, held in place with the support of a golden hair bow at the back of her head. Her appearance remained unchanged since the last time she checked it.
Maybe she should just take a deep breath, and try to relax.
But who can relax at such a day?
At any rate, where is he? What takes him so long?
Luna gave yet another glance at the white bracelet on her right wrist. It was already 7:20. Rather than angry, now she started to feel worried for the fellow Mauan. Perhaps being late wasn't even his fault. Maybe something happened to him?
Back in the day, when she watched her younger siblings and made cookies with them, they always had a difficult time waiting for them to back and said they wanted to eat the dough raw. Back then, Luna would tell them that good things come to those who wait. How she hoped this sentence had any kind of truth to it.
